Hi Valerie,

OK this is only the first framework for talking about how to start a more
visual guided entry into topics and then forums. I was thinking of
course we'd keep the Original web entry page with the planets in a
circle-we might have to modify it so that it makes sense with the
organization of pages according to "topic". Then once you click the
"topics" you get a visual/text page like the example I give below which
visually or in text lays out for the viewer all topics. I guess what
I'm trying to do is make the whole entry into Forums/topics simple and
visually guided. I hope this is of use! Talk to you later, Heather

So I have a simple example in my public folder but note that is is just a
visual with no subsequent layers-Have to get that code:

	www.keck.ucsf.edu/~blondie/layout.html

We could have an image and text title for each topics. Here I have three
example topics: Education, Global Policy, Ecology. We'd have to be
creative on how we set it up to include all the GD topics. I thought we
could combine spirituality, health/nutrition, religion into a big topic
called "Mind/Body/Spirit" to avoid having to have an entry point that was
offensive to anyone. We could just choose to have images for some of the
primary topics on the initial layer and have other topics be off to side
in "text" only. Then if you click on that topic you'd get a layer with
images etc.

The Logic flow would be as follows:

1. click "Topic Image"
2. unfolds a page with a text/small art combo:

current events -top story gets an image link if possible
    history -image
    reference links? -folder icon
    policy -law/action icon
art -current art relating to topic
    Forums

3. current events and policy are divided as you've done before into
                 News/Action

I would image you'd have a separate Forum for each topic.
